A Late afternoon Spring walk

I have written here about the land surrounding our home, which is in the custody and guardianship of the National Trust. It is a Site of Special Scientific Interest as it is home to many wild flowers. There are 13 different orchids and also pasque flowers. Everyone has been out in the sunshine today tending their gardens or out walking their dogs, so early this evening we ventured out to see if there were any signs of the Early Purple Orchid yet.
As we wandered along with the sun sinking behind the hills, I suddenly caught a glimpse of our new neighbour's property in the trees.
I have very sharp eyes, and said to H "he is flying a flag"!
As we got nearer, H agreed, there was definitely a flag on the turret.
There it was, sparkling in the sun. Yes, I just knew, and had predicted that our Green Man would be sporting a green Union Jack flag on his castle before too long!!!

  1. Hello Rosemary:
Wider still and wider shall his bounds be set...! What next, we wonder?

But you do live in the most lovely spot, Rosemary, and we are so envious of all those remarkable wild flowers just a short walk from home.

    1. Hello Jane and Lance - quite so - God, who made thee mighty, make thee mightier yet! Apparently his £750,000 Nemesis electric sports car enjoyed its first official outing yesterday.
Once the early purple orchids and cowslips start to flower that will be the signal for the rest to start blooming.

    1. The orchids I was looking for are not out yet, but when they appear you will be the first to see them. We have hundreds, and when they open they look wonderful against the cowslips - a few weeks and they will be here.

  10. Well Rosemary, it appears as though you live on top of the world, or at least the way I think the top of the world ought to look — absolutely beautiful!

I really enjoyed how we all went on the walk with you, and I do hope that you get to know your neighbor (I'll bet he would be an interesting dinner partner.).
