  1. Mmmm, things are looking very pretty at your house, Rosemary. My favourites are the cake and the baubles in an antique urn. Gorgeous!

    1. Dear Kirk - the cake is very minimal. I made the band which goes round the middle of it out of some wrapping paper.
The Christmas tree lights are in the garden. We do not have any street lighting here so the lights really glow in the dark.

    2. I thought they looked like 'outside' lights. There is something rather magical about setting up lights in trees outside.

    3. Now you can get these LED lights that go outside it is so easy to add a bit of sparkle to the garden trees.

    1. Hope you give knitted bunting a try Elizabeth. You could make some birthday bunting, or even bunting to celebrate the arrival of a new baby as well as Christmas bunting.

Your cake looks divine..as though the snow settled on it during the night.

    1. Dear Val, thank you so much, and I also look forward to connecting with you again next year.
The snow on the cake is made from roll out fondant icing, it is not so sweet, which I prefer, and much easier to dress the cake. I am all for the quickest and easiest method that is available.
The christmas bunting is rather nice to have, and I also have some summertime bunting too.
Happy times with your family Val.

  16. Dear Rosemary, All your decorations are lovely, and I am charmed by your knit holiday pennants! I wondered whether that was a cake, but Val answered my question.

    1. Dear Mark - I have had the christmas bunting for a few years now, but it always makes a cheery welcome addition to the christmas decoration.
I wonder do you have a Christmas cake like we do? It is a rich fruit cake and then it is dressed with marzipan and covered with icing. Many people put the marzipan and icing on the sides of the cake too, but for me that makes it too sweet.

      Delete
    2. I have never had the cake with marzipan, and I've never heard of others in the U.S. making it. But we do have the fig cake and in our family, instead of icing, it comes with a hard (stiff) sauce made of powdered sugar, butter and rum. Believe me, the figgy pudding is mainly the vehicle for the hard sauce!

    3. That sounds like the sauce we put on our Christmas pudding which can be made with rum or brandy.

  17. That is super creative, I first tought it was fruit.

    Greetings,
    Filip

    1. Yes Betty, you are correct, I did dust the trees with icing sugar. Once the cake is eaten I shall have to put them under running water to rinse it off!!!
