Gone Fishing

Years of WFVM brings my 500th post
I love the exchange of looks shared by these three. I don't have a clue who they are, but the bird is a Little Blue Heron. I 'caught' them on my camera whilst staying on Anna Maria Island, Florida during March 2011

The humans - there's something fishy about that bird
The bird - all good things come to those who bait

  1. 500 posts in 3 1/2 years, that's a lot, congratulations Rosemary.
This picture is great, you captured them at the right moment, the heron is definitely waiting for the fish, looking at the man and thinking hurry up I'm hungry.

  7. 500 posts in 3 and half years? How creative and productive, Rosemary! Mine is less than 250 in about 5 years....slow but steady. The scene taken in the photo is like a cartoon like other commenter wrote.

  9. Hello Rosemary, Congratulations on such a big milestone. 500 posts, yet always so fresh and enjoyable. I recently went with some friends to a lake park, and the wild birds were so tame that you could go right up to them--they weren't skittish at all, some people were fishing, and I imagine this scene was reenacted many times there.

    1. Hello Jim - thank you for your very kind comment which is much appreciated. I was taking photos of my brother's granddaughter splashing around in the water so it was luck that I was pointing the camera in their direction, and caught all of them looking at each other.

    1. Dear Gina - Thank you for your very kind comment I do think that I have slowed down of late, in fact I don't believe that the blogosphere is anything like as popular as it used to be. Several of my followers now seem to be on Instagram and sadly never go near their blogs anymore.
I appreciated your contribution Gina - thank you♡

I like your quote - I think we all know who would succeed in getting hold of any fish first if one were to appear on the end of the rod. I think that is what the man is thinking too.

  19. Congratulations on your 500th post, Rosemary, and long may WFVM continue! It is definitely one of my very favourite blogs. I have learnt and enjoyed so much from your posts, your wonderful research and gorgeous pictures. That is a brilliant shot on the beach in Florida: The bird is so brave, standing its ground, knowing if it is quick it might get a meal.

    1. Dear Partricia - Thank you for your very kind comment - I suspect that if a fish comes out on the end of the line, the Little Blue Heron will fly in and get there first - he looks as if he does this regularly.

    1. Thank you very much Jessica - we share a love of similar things - I have seen these particular waters heaving with shoals of fish and turning the water silver, I suspect the bird would get the fish first and all three know that.

  31. Gosh, 500 posts in three and a half years is a wonderful achievement, especially when one knows all the thought and planning that must go into each of your beautiful and informative posts. I've only managed half that number in 4 years!
Not having a smartphone or tablet and not being on Instagram, I do hope you don't decide to abandon blogdom for a place where I can't follow you.

    1. Dear Perpetua - I am quite quick doing my posts, but cutting them down, without hopefully loosing the essence, takes the most time.
I will not be moving to Instagram - however, I do notice that many of my followers have and I now sadly have no communications with them. I do not understand Instagram it appears to be just showing your photos with no storyline or connection behind them.
