Happy Easter

During Easter, whilst many of us will be spending time with family or friends, I am conscious of those who have lost or have severely injured family members in the brutal Brussels attacks, so many lives which will never be the same again

  1. The best of thoughts, Rosemary. Yes, our hearts are with our neighbours in Belgium and those of all nations who have been victims of these foul terrorists. We must also remember that the twisted people that carry out these crimes aren't just targeting people, but our way of life. In dealing with them - and we will, ultimately, win that war - we must cherish and maintain the liberal values and freedoms which help to define us.

  2. Thanks you for your thoughtful post and Easter greetings Rosemary. I hope you will enjoy some pleasant Spring weather during the break. Your flower arrangement is lovely.
However, it is a very sad time for those who have lost loved ones in Brussels and in many other parts of the world in these terrible attacks. We should not forget them.

  5. Easter greetings to you, too, Rosemary. Your spring flower bouquet is lovely. It's an obvious thought I know, but I just don't understand why people can't choose to live together in peace.

  6. Hello Rosemary, I join you in your sympathy for those who have suffered in this or in similar situations. I think that many if not all holidays contain this facet of reflection and remembrance.

  8. Good morning, Rosemary. It will be a sad, sad Easter for many families. I believe that we owe it to those who have lost so much to refuse to be cowed - to continue to live our lives as we have, to travel and meet with one another - the terrorists won't win with bombs but they can win with fear.
The painting behind the daffodils is beautiful. I tried, but couldn't see the signature. It is reminiscent of the work of Ted Harrison, late of Vancouver Island.

    1. Hello H - I believe that you are right - we have travelled to Turkey for the past 4 years, and received warnings from people who have told us to be careful, but we have never seen anything at all that has fightened us or been untoward.
I am so pleased that you like the picture - it is actually a linocut by my youngest son. He is a Special Needs Teacher but also an artist. At the moment he is having success with several of his linocuts being made into greetings cards by a company here that specialise in highlighting the work of British artists. This particular image is one that he has done for a book on S.Ireland which is being printed by a private press. It shows Gannets on "The Skelligs" a couple of islands off the coast of County Kerry.

  9. Dear Rosemary, thank you for your Easter wishes and that you remind us of the victims of those horrible terrors. The daffodils as a symbol of innocence, spring and going on, in freedom, where we want to go, without fear.

  11. Hello Rosemary,
Wishing you and your family a very Happy Easter. I also pray for peace. I love your son's linocut and love the subject. Skellig Michael and Skellig Beag are spectacular. They were featured very briefly in the most recent Star Wars movie, as you likely know.

    Fondest wishes

    Helen xx

    1. Hello Helen - thank you for that information, in fact I have now changed my reply to Pondside as I did not realise that there were two islands and neither was I aware that they had featured in the Star Wars movie.
      Happy Easter Helen♡

  19. We will also be thinking of those who have been affected in Brussels over Easter. I too admired the lovely picture behind the daffodils. It did occur to be instantly that it might be your son's work. Sarah x

  21. This is the difficult time. Belgian people are in my thoughts. I hope the bright yellow of the daffodils cheer up all the people who feel intimidated and help them to be free from fear and anxiety. A beautiful photo of a room decoration with refined taste. Wish you a happy and peaceful Easter, Rosemary.

  22. Our hearts go out to the people of Belgium.
We spoke to our daughter in France last night - they were taking the three girls to the Easter service in the Cathedral near them, she said each Sunday there is a Policeman on guard in the Church. What is the world coming to?
A beautiful tableau for Easter Rosemary and I was immediately drawn to your sons painting.
I would love to know when the cards are available!
I'm also interested in your sons book - I have Irish blood running through my veins!
    Happy Easter
