Like a thief in the night winter slipped in quietly taking us by surprise. It is 5 years since we last saw snow on this hilltop, and never before so early.
We have a pre-booked Christmas night away at an inn, fortunately not too far. The journey could be intrepid, but hopefully all will be well. Fingers crossed, see you again on our return.

Dear Rosemary, Oh, so beautiful. We are still waiting for our first meaningful snow. It's very late this year. Enjoy your holiday.
ReplyDeleteI love the look of snow, particularly in people's photos. Not so keen on it in person.
ReplyDeleteI wondered if you would be getting snow when I saw the weather report yesterday. It makes everything beautiful and really feel like it's Christmas.
ReplyDeleteNot fun if you're not used to driving in it though.
That snowfall is worthy of Canada! I can just imagine the consternation it's causing in Britain.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, you have more snow than we have and......I see sunbeams......so nice.
ReplyDeleteSo picturesque. I’m very envious. Only gales and rain in this corner. Enjoy your stay. B x
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful. It's snowing here as well and we have some frost. Happy Sunday, Rosemary!
ReplyDeleteHello Rosemary, I just got the reports of the first snow in Ohio, too.
ReplyDeleteTake it easy on those frozen roads!

Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful snow!
ReplyDeleteEver so pretty and presume it's part of your garden.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely time away before Christmas, be safe in the snow if it remains.
It surprised everyone here too. Haven't seen so much snow for years here. But I like it to see the fairytale world this way.
ReplyDeleteFresh snow looks so pretty. I hope that you have a lovely pre-Christmas overnight stay and
ReplyDeletea good journey there and back home.
Hope your journey was a success. Snow does look beautiful but is not so wonderful if you have any journeys to make. We met up with my brother and sister in the New Forest today and we were concerned at one point that we might have to cancel. Sarah x
ReplyDeleteSo fairy looking, snow makes everything magical . We saw snow here in Milan yesterday too, but it didn't last long.
ReplyDeleteSo fresh, soft and transforming. I would love to experience a scene like that in my garden.
ReplyDeleteHope your journeys are safe and that you enjoy your time away.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR COMMENTS - ALL IS WELL AND WE ARE NOW BACK HOME AGAIN SAFELY♡
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful but I wouldn't want to drive in it without 4WD
ReplyDeleteBeautiful but really cold. Minus 12 below yesterday. Freezing on a weekend ferry trip.
ReplyDeleteDearest Rosemary,
ReplyDeleteThat is a perfect snowy winter photo and no doubt a rare view.
We have had some white days in the past, at least for a couple of hours. You have to get out with the camera before getting dressed, or else you are too late!
Safe travels and enjoy.
Mariette
