  1. Hello Rosemary, What creative pumpkins these are. The Welcome one is really a tour de force. When I was little, the most we could muster was the classic geometrical-features-with-crooked-smile pumpkin, although those were fun, too!

Is Halloween big in Britain? Taiwan has a few sporadic decorations, but I really miss how the event is celebrated in America.

    1. Dear Jim - when I was young we did not use pumpkins, but a turnip or swede. They were really difficult to carve because they are so hard and tough.
Our museum had a competition for local children, and they were displayed in the park one evening last week. They looked very attractive flickering amongst the trees. It seems to get bigger each year, however, I think that it is good fun for the children as they love getting dressed up. We live in quite a remote spot, so only occasionally get a knock on the door, but I will buy a few treats just in case.

    1. Dear Erika - Last year I stocked up with jelly fangs etc and no one came!!! I am just going out to get some chocolate for this evening. If no one calls, we can eat the chocolate ourselves, jelly fangs were not really to our liking.

    1. Happy Halloween to you to Mark - I was surprised at how much they glowed when I put them on the computer. The children were having a great time in the dark placing them under the trees to be judged.

  7. A lovely collage Rosemary. The childrens pumpkins are fantastic. The 'Welcome' pumpkin is very adventurous, I take my witches hat off to its creator.

It is so nice to hear and see people getting involved and enjoying themselves. Today I saw several families in town shopping for their halloween parties tonight. Lots of happy faces, it made my day!

  9. What a wonderful selection of carved pumpkins and I loved your finishing touches. It's so wet here this evening I don't think anyone will be out knocking on doors.
    Happy Halloween!
