    1. It is not really big here either Val - last year a bought some ghoulish looking sweets for any children who might call, but nobody came. This year if anyone calls the cupboard is bare.

  2. Hello Rosemary, Happy Halloween to you! Halloween is huge in America, although here I find myself doing less and less--a few Halloween ribbons and skeletons were all I could muster this year.

    1. Dear Jim - If you do not have children around then Halloween doesn't really take off. I know that one of my grandchildren is going to a party tomorrow night, but out of 5 of them, I think that she is the only one doing anything.

Not into Halloween, guess that's because when I was so much younger we didn't have Halloween.

  6. You've come up with some great images Rosemary. Halloween has not been observed here much in the past, but it seems to be gaining in popularity in recent years.

  7. Dear Rosemary, Have you thought of submitting these interesting images to PicMonkey? You should. They are wonderful, especially the very last black overlay roundel. Happy Halloween.

  8. Lovely images! I adore Halloween. All of the English villages I have lived in had small ghost and ghoulies trick or treating, always a delight to see them. x

      corner of the world now

  10. Excellent images.....and so different from your usual photos ! I'm looking forward to hosting Halloween for our 2 5 year old grandsons tomorrow night. Just a bit of dressing up and knocking on a few neighbours doors, then return home to tiny jacket potatoes and some wonderful local butcher's own sausages, and a disgustingly fattening chocolate cake.....the children will love it. I hope you have an enjoyable All Saints !

  11. Dear Rosemary - Today (in the U.S., at least) Halloween has become so organized and supervised that much of the genuine fun and charm has vanished. My brother lives in a nice neighborhood to which children from other neighborhoods are actually brought in by busload, and that has become the final stroke for him!

    1. It is not really big here, mostly it is the very young children that have a bit of fun.

I hope you are well-- I've been enjoying your posts from my phone in between projects at the bindery-- so wonderful as always!!! You've made some great images here, and I'm reminded that I have only one more evening to get my skeletons out and pumpkins carved... We'll surely be receiving many many small invaders tomorrow evening...

    Warm regards,
    Erika

  13. You must have had fun creating these ;) Halloween is not really celebrated here and no home decorations either but what I'd love most is handing out candy to passing by trick or treaters all dressed up and singing. I wonder, is that fun? I honestly wouldn't know. Did you ever trick or treat as a child and do children from the neighbourhood come by your house now to trick or treat and do you have to get your supply of goodies to give to them? I wish you a fun Halloween Rosemary!

    1. Trick or treat did not happen when I was young, but I did it with my sons when they were small. We used to have children calling, but last year no one came and I was left with some ghoulish sweets. If they call this year there is nothing in the cupboard!!!

An elegant Halloween post - love what Pic Monkey do!
I made up little bags of goodies for callers - we had two groups - but it's not a big thing in New Zealand!

    1. It is for the young children really - I have been over at my son's house and he had loads of little visitors, some who should probably have been in bed.

  25. Oh dear - I forgot this year too! I emptied my purse for the first callers (despite the masks I guessed who they were and was happy to treat them) but I hid when the next knock came...

    1. If anyone called here they would have been disappointed as we have been out all day, but my son had some delightful little visitors who were obviously doing it for the first time - they were so sweet.

  26. What refined crafts for Halloween! You’re so creative, rosemary. Halloween is not so popular in Japan, but young mothers (like my daughter) like to have a modest home party with their very young children. Pleasant goods are sold to make its atmosphere pretty and scary (not pretty scary).

    1. Dear Yoko - it is more popular here than when my sons were small, and was non existent when I was a child. I suspect that the internet is playing a role in its steadily increasing popularity.
