Boxing Day

Hope that you have all had a happy seasonal holiday whether you celebrated or not
A gift of a pen and ink drawing by one of our granddaughters
and hanging hooks made for us by our grandson
A brisk walk in the winter sunshine followed by an easy meal of leftovers from Christmas Day. Tomorrow we shall be on our own again, but lots of clearing up to keep us busy - take care♡

  1. Hello Rosemary, I am glad you had a pleasant holiday, and such nice hand-made gifts from your grandchildren. The weekend passed quietly here, as the big celebration is not until Chinese New Year next month.

  2. Dear Rosemary, Sounds like you had a wonderful celebration with your family. The gifts from your grandchildren are very special. Immediately I was wondering if the large hand in the pen and ink drawing had a special meaning. The hanging hooks, placed in front of the Morris wallpaper, are extra special... carefully cut out and carefully painted. What treasures.

    1. Dear Gina - hope you and Mr. G had a lovely time.
The large hand is just illustrative I believe - big man, big hands.
You are right about the William Morris design but it is in fact a tablecloth, we haven't got around to putting them up as yet.

  17. Dearest Rosemary,
Sounds like you did have some great family time with the three generations! Lovely handmade gifts which are always a lot more sentimental.
We drove the four hours to Florida for being at Midnight Mass in Jacksonville at the Basilica where the Symphony Orchestra did play with their choir and organist for a heavenly Mozart Mass. That to us was pure Christmas and we quietly walked the 7 minutes through the balmy weather, to our Hyatt Regency for only $ 90 (a steal for such accommodation!). It's only the two of us in this continent and we've never done any gift-giving. We used to do that back in The Netherlands for St. Nicholas on the 5th or 6th (children, early morning...) of December, with poems about the receiving person, highlighting the past year.
    Fond memories!
    Sending you hugs,
    Mariette

    1. Dear Mariette - that sounds such a delightful way to spend Christmas, so pleased that you had a lovely time.
I don't like the commercialisation that surrounds Christmas, and am much happier to received gifts made and given with love. One of my other granddaughters gave us a food box of goodies all made by herself and her boyfriend.
A peaceful and happy New Year to you both♡
