Winter has arrived

Like a thief in the night winter slipped in quietly taking us by surprise. It is 5 years since we last saw snow on this hilltop, and never before so early.

We have a pre-booked Christmas night away at an inn, fortunately not too far. The journey could be intrepid, but hopefully all will be well. Fingers crossed, see you again on our return.

  1. Dear Rosemary, Oh, so beautiful. We are still waiting for our first meaningful snow. It's very late this year. Enjoy your holiday.

  2. I love the look of snow, particularly in people's photos. Not so keen on it in person.

  3. I wondered if you would be getting snow when I saw the weather report yesterday. It makes everything beautiful and really feel like it's Christmas.
Not fun if you're not used to driving in it though.

  4. That snowfall is worthy of Canada! I can just imagine the consternation it's causing in Britain.

  6. So picturesque. I’m very envious. Only gales and rain in this corner. Enjoy your stay. B x

  8. Hello Rosemary, I just got the reports of the first snow in Ohio, too.

Take it easy on those frozen roads!

  9. Ever so pretty and presume it's part of your garden.
Have a lovely time away before Christmas, be safe in the snow if it remains.

  10. It surprised everyone here too. Haven't seen so much snow for years here. But I like it to see the fairytale world this way.

  12. Hope your journey was a success. Snow does look beautiful but is not so wonderful if you have any journeys to make. We met up with my brother and sister in the New Forest today and we were concerned at one point that we might have to cancel. Sarah x

  17. Beautiful but really cold. Minus 12 below yesterday. Freezing on a weekend ferry trip.

  18. Dearest Rosemary,
That is a perfect snowy winter photo and no doubt a rare view.
We have had some white days in the past, at least for a couple of hours. You have to get out with the camera before getting dressed, or else you are too late!
    Safe travels and enjoy.
