The building first shown on the previous post is opposite a mosque - it is where Muslim men carry out 'Wudu' (ablution). There is a man in the photo above practicing Wudu. The process is complicated but if you are interested in knowing how it is performed then you can follow this link.
Several blogging friends were heading in the right direction but it was Lorrie who got it spot on - very well done Lorrie and thank you to everyone else for trying.
Hello Rosemary, I think that we were all imagining going into that inner building, which must be mostly plumbing connections. If we had magnified the image and seen those marble blocks, we might have headed in the right direction.
ReplyDeleteThank you for teaching me something new.

Interesting! Reminds me a bit of the purification fountains outside big Buddhist temples in Japan.
ReplyDeleteVery interesting! ;-)
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting to see the inside of the building, too. Many religions have ritual washings as part of worship. The clue for me was the building to the left - the mosque.
ReplyDeleteYou have very sharp eyes Lorrie.
DeleteI have never heard of such a practice. I take it that women are not allowed?
ReplyDeleteYes, Janey, women too carry out something similar, but I am not sure whether they use the same facilities as the men as I only saw men on that particular day.
DeleteI guessed the washing of the feet, then went to the link proved and saw I was slightly correct :)
