If any of you in the UK, and possibly Europe, have lost your Quick edit pencil icon, your Delete button has disappeared and your spanners and screwdrivers have vanished from your front page without trace, fear not, thanks to Perpetua you can reclaim them by opening your blog, then edit the address in your browser address bar. Delete the .co.uk or .fr or whatever it may be, then after the word blogspot add .com/ncr and hit your return key.
If you have any difficulty with this, please have a look at Perpetua's blog for more information. It worked for me and it worked for her. Good luck.
P.S. I have another problem with Blogger, they say I have run out of space for photographs and have to pay some money for more. I know some people post more photos than I do. Does anyone know what I can do please?
Addendum
The last few days have been fun and games - however, that really isn't the correct expression for how I feel. Sometimes I love the computer and other times I wish I had never seen one. Its a love/hate relationship.
Special thanks to some wonderful blogger friends, who have helped me resolve problems and carried me through the difficulties I have encountered. If it had not been for them I would be pulling my hair out by now.
The final straw was when my internet server failed. A free telephone call to India was on the cards. I know for sure that my helper was in Mumbai because I asked him. I said "I can't hear you very well are you in Mumbai?" and he acknowledged that he was. He said it would take at least 24 hours, to which I exclaimed "oh no", fortunately it only took an hour. This gave me an hour to catch up on the Sunday papers, and finish potting up my special lilies. As William Shakespeare said 'All's Well That Ends Well'.
Thanks, good to know! If in dire strite, I will head along to your blog for help at once! Happily, I have not seen this difficulties yet...
ReplyDeleteYes, it is worth bearing it in mind. I have had a frustrating time trying to find out what the problem was, and thankfully Perpetua came to my aid.
DeleteRosemary, I know about the photos. All the images are stored in Picasa. I resize my images to 800 pixels and that helps with storage-start doing this. You will have to pay only five American dollars and will have loads of storage. My photos not resized are enormous, about 2000 pixels or more and quickly add up. E-mail me with any questions. I have a hospital appointment in the morning but will be back later in the day. My email is in my profile. olive
ReplyDeletep.s. deleting photos does not work-they will disappear from your blog
Dear Rosemary, Please have a look at my blogpost of July 6, 2011.
ReplyDeleteAll photos posted to Blogger are automatically included in the 1GB (about 3,000 pictures) free storage allotted to Picasa Web Albums. You have run out of space with Picasa. You could remove some of your pictures from Picasa BUT YOU COULD REMOVE PICTURES YOU HAVE USED IN YOUR BLOG AND THAT WOULD ALSO REMOVE THEM FROM YOUR BLOG.
The best thing to do is to purchase from Picasa, for a very small fee, (ABOUT $10 a year) extra storage. For an extra bonus you will have your photos in Picasa for safe keeping should you lose some of them.
Glad it worked for you, Rosemary. As far as photos are concerned, you do post a lot of very large, high definition images. Have you though of compressing them at least to some extent? The definition may be not quite so good, but they will take up very much less space in your Picasa albums. Remember that your readers can always double click on them to see them enlarged in the Google lightbox.
ReplyDeleteIn the following post most of the photos I used were less than 100KB, but enlarged well.

Just a thought....
Dear Olive, Gina, and Perpetua - thanks very much, you are all such a wonderful source of help. I have done as you said and reduced the size of my large photos back to the beginning of the year and its seems to have worked. I shall probably just have to cut down on how many I display, and as you say, Perpetua, people can click on them. Thank you I am really, really grateful to you all.
ReplyDeleteThank.you.Rosemary.

Thanks Val - I am just too prolific with my photos - they will have to be small from now on.
DeleteDear Rosemary, To be able to work with larger photos comes in handy. I would upgrade to larger storage instead. Picasa gives you 2 choices. The first choice only costs $5 a year.
ReplyDeleteIMPORTANT: Set your "who can see your photo" to "you only". Then you don't have to share them with the rest of the world. As it is, whatever you post on Blogger will become public.
Dear Gina - thank you very much. I have written down a note of this for my future reference, particularly with regard to the 'who can see your photo' or 'you only'. I really appreciate your help.
DeleteShakespear was ( and stil is and always will be right) but oh! what a pain pc problems are!
ReplyDeleteI have never heard this about photo space from blogger...
All the luck with that, I think Perpetua up there has a point
love to you from Norway : )
Dear Demie - blogging friends have been so helpful to me this past couple of days, it is amazing how they all rally round to assist.
DeletePerpetua has been of great assistance, and I take seriously what she says, she is obviously more technical than me.
Take care.
Dear Rosemary, I pay about $ 5.00 every year but I have published a lot of pics on my blog. I have faced blogging problems as well and it was very, very annoying and took a few days until ran again. I hope you can carry on blogging now without problems! Christa
ReplyDeleteThanks Christa - I think that is what I shall have to do. At the moment I have reduced some of my photo capacity behind the blog, but I am sure to run out again soon.
DeleteI realized a few months ago that my storage in Picasa was almost full. I resized some of my photos and replaced them with the originals. I use Paint to reduce the size of pictures by reducing the number of pixels to 800. Hope this would be of any help to you.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your visit to my blog. I do love your photos which took my breath away.
Greetings from Japan
Yoko
Dear Yoko - thank you so much for your visit and for your kind comments regarding my photos.
DeleteI think that I have to find my way around reducing the pixels, but if I cannot manage, I will just pay the $5 fee to Blogger. I appreciate your advice very much.
