A very pretty flower, but thank goodness it does not grow in my garden!!!
Answers this evening.
I am 100% confident that if Paul sees this he will guess correctly. However, he may be off having a Bank Holiday Weekend adventure.

  1. Good morning Rosemary,
    Another teaser.. here goes.
To me it looks like the family of Iris.
But as you wrote that you are glad its not in your garden..i think not..for they are beautiful. -----IRIS

    1. Dear Val - your reasoning is correct. It is not an iris.

  2. Impatiens glandudifera. When you have it in your garden it will rising up everywere in the garden. But I must say the flowers she brings are gorgeous.
    Have a beautiful Sunday Rosemary.

  4. I may have to hand in my crown, sceptre, cloak and sash Rosemary.
I am sure your comment regarding this flower not growing in your garden is laden with suggestion. So it could be a noxious weed or it could be an old fashioned bedding plant.
I am on the road this weekend and via my phone screen my nearest guess would be a Snapdragon.

    1. Sorry to interrupt your journey Paul - I do like snapdragons and would happily have them in my garden.
You are correct about the clue being laden with suggestion.

    1. I am not aware of it being poisonous but it does have some undesirable qualities.

  6. Dear Rosemary, I think it's a Policeman's Helmet (can't think of the proper name right now). It is outlawed in some of our states because it is such a prolific bloomer and spreads easily. Their mature seed heads explode when touched. Children love to do this (and so do I)

    1. Dear Gina - I have heard it called that. You may be surprised at some of the information I am showing about the seed heads and how far they explode!!!

  7. All right. I had to look up the proper name just in case. It's the "Hymalayan Balsam". I have it growing in my garden right now. A friend gave me a little plant she had started from seed. IT HAS TAKEN OVER MY GARDEN.
Funny, I was going to post it for my next "can you identify".

  9. Hi Rosemary,
Is it Himalayan Balsam? I have seen so much of this plant this year, lucky it is not in my garden either.
