Modern Technology

Two Posts today:-
I have a confession to make, I think I have reached my zenith regarding all the modern gadgets that keep appearing on the market. I thought that I was doing reasonably well, but now I am lost. I did quite well teaching myself how to 'link' my blogs, however, it was so simple that the only person I can impress with my new found skill is H.
I do not have a single friend or acquaintance outside the blogosphere who 'blogs' and for that matter hardly any of my friends can email or skype. I can count them all on my fingers. Apps are a mystery to me, and yet if I knew how to use them they would probably enhance what I can do. QR codes (pictured above), I am sure you all know about them. Google Goggles, the rather Orwellian sounding 'augmented reality' uses your mobile phone camera to recognise objects or places it photographs and instantly beams back to you a mass of internet derived information about what it sees. Aurasma - apparently makes the world browse-able which sounds rather like Google Goggles to me, except that it takes it to the next level !!! Ah, well.......

  2. I hadn't heard about Google Goggles, but I imagine that it would be a perfect app to take to an art museum. (It also might be fun to try to fool it!)

    1. Dear Mark - I suspect that you probably have all of this technology at your finger tips, however, for me it is a continual learning process.

  3. I am with you on this subject of technology. We currently have dumb phones so we cannot scan anything. I was just trying to install an html code so that one could click on the photo of an envelope and go directly to my email. That is not working so far as I am hopeless when anyone says html code. None of my family or friends save my child understands blogging. My friends act like blogging is as alien as well an alien.

    1. Dear Olive - I went to a lecture recently with old fashion photo slides, it was awful. The lecturer said “I don't do digital photos and computers, and I bet all of you don't either"? and the room agreed with him, which made me feel like the odd one out. I despair of people's attitude, give it a try its good fun even if you cannot cope with everything.

  4. You are way ahead of me. I was just lamenting to my husband that I'm afraid I'm so far behind I will never be able to catch up. I see other peoples blogs and think "Wow, how did they do that?!" I had a phone (not a smart one) but I gave it to my youngest son when he got a car and I was afraid he would get a flat tire or something and need to call us. I didn't use it much anyway. But I will keep trying to learn new things!

    1. Yes, ‟keep trying" must be the operative words. A year ago I had no idea how to blog so some improvement from then. Thanks for your visit and comments.

  5. Dear Rosemay, loved that Japanese doll on your last post.
About this post, I almost don't understand what you are talking about ; )
I only know I am trying to catch up too, but something new comes along, in like about a minute,
and it's never enough time to learn it all...
Except from that, I also need to tell you that machines in general simply dislike me ; )

    1. Dear Demie - glad you liked the Japanese doll.
Yes, I almost don't know what I am talking about either!!! However, I suppose we all get there in our own way eventually. Its all of these apps that confuse me.

  6. Great post, Rosemary. I think those of us who are middle-aged are actually quite lucky because we knew a world without all these gadgets. We know the difference between the gadgets that really do make life easier or more fun and those we can do without. Plus, trying to keep up with all these new technologies is probably doing wonders toward keeping our brains in fantastic shape!

    1. Dear Rosemary - I do think that you are right. There are so many things to think about, downloading photos, giving them a little tweak, getting them from your own albums into blogger etc, surely it must be helping our brains stay alert - lets hope so anyway. Thanks for stopping by.

  7. Bewildering, isn't it? And if you embrace the technology and become addicted to it, it's s struggle to find anyone who shares your zeal. Ho hum. Not tried Google Goggles yet: must put it on my to-do list.

    1. Dear Kate how true that is, but fortunately we can find each other in blogosphere. I suspect that you are pretty good on the techno side of things!!!
