Parisian Moments......

......are for both young

and old.
Parisian moments are golden votive candles glowing and flickering at twilight in Notre Dame.
Parisian moments are national flags hoisted and ready to do battle across the pond in Jardin du Luxembourg, and
being chic dressed in plastic.
Parisian moments capture the lacey underside of the Eiffel Tower,
the elegant boulevard signs, but
the final Parisian moment belongs to Hector Guimard whose fabulous Art Nouveau Metro entrance gate will take us underground and home.
black & white Image courtesy our eldest son - it was take on a footpath by the River Seine, close to where he and his family lived. Did you notice the sunlit heart that the ladies are walking towards?

  1. .....and maybe one day it will be possible to visit Paris again. Two years ago today I was in Panama, and that was the last time I left the country. Never in my adult life has it been so long.

  3. Hello Rosemary, Paris is always near the top of my places to visit. I especially want to see the musical instruments in the Conservatoire and antiquities (and other art) at the Louvre. But to be honest, I could also another trip to England--these decisions are so difficult!

    1. Hello Jim - I am not contemplating any visits overseas this year, but fortunately we have plenty of interesting places that we can visit here. It might even be the same next year and even the year after - no one knows what the future holds.

  5. Those photos seem to sum up Paris very well, though to be honest I've never been, always preferring to head for the French mountains and countryside.

  6. Oh how I miss Paris - granddaughter Jasmin said she even dreamed we three were back there again a couple of nights ago, and the sky was pink!
Beautiful shots - each one tells a great story. They say right now it's so wonderful there with no tourists, little traffic and nothing going on - one can walk quietly and concentrate on the the fabulous architecture and nature.

Happy Easter to you and J dear Rosemary - Mary xx

    1. I have visited Paris so many times over the years, the first time was when I was a teenager. When my son lived there for 10 years we were always popping over - I miss it too.

  8. Dearest Rosemary,
Such moments can be created at any beautiful city but sure Paris is the city of Light.
We've been there several times, during the day and at night for indulging in its many lights.
Happy Easter to you and yours!
    Hugs,
    Mariette

  9. Oh, thank you for the memories of Paris, Rosemary. Like everyone, I miss travel, and miss Paris. The little boats immediately took me back to a sunny afternoon near the pond at the Luxembourg gardens. The candles at Notre Dame, the Eiffel Tower - just six years since we were there, and we wonder if we will ever go overseas again. Thank you for showing this gorgeous city. Happy Easter Rosemary.

  10. Dear Rosemary,
That is the first thing I noticed in Paris, the Metro Gates, all over Paris.
The photo of the 2 ladies makes me smile...same height, same hips, same everything.

  16. Dear Rosemary - Nice selection of the photos of beautiful Paris. The second monochrome image made my heart warm and wish the time come soon when elderly people can enjoy outing carefree. I’ve never known the underside of the Eiffel Tower is so beautiful.

  18. Very nice. Just watched the Art of France on TV tonight. Toured most of the city of Paris twice on the same day (our UK bus driver was hopelessly lost for two hours circling the outer suburbs in the days before sat- nav before eventually finding the correct set of roads)So we did take in a large variety of different signs. Seen more of Paris that time than any other trip.

  19. Hector Guimard really did design fabulous Art Nouveau Metro entrances to mark the railway stations below, before WW1. Unfortunately they weren't protected until much later, by which time some had been destroyed and removed.

    1. You are correct, sadly they were disregarded for decades and could all have been destroyed forever. The 86 that remain represent roughly half of the original collection.
