Our late summer garden

We are heading off to a BBQ. Hope that this warm balmy late August weather continues. For UK residents, enjoy the rest of the holiday weekend.

  1. Hello Rosemary:
How well you capture here the feeling of the last of summer light and the beginning of autumn. Here in Budapest we are sweltering in temperatures of 35C, but there is a sense that a thunderstorm cannnot be too far off.

Enjoy the barbecue and the holiday weekend!!

  2. Dear Jane & Lance - there is definitely an end of the holiday and back to school feel here. I enjoy a good thunderstorm, everything feels fresher, and it clears the air.

  3. Your garden is beautiful! I have the sense that you've found some secret way to keep all insects at bay.

  7. Thank you, dear Rosemary, for the explanation of "demerara sugar" :)
This way I not only learned something but also discovered your beautiful blog. Stunning pictures and interesting stories, wonderful!

  8. Dear Bozena - thank you very much. I expect that you realised that ordinary sugar on the plums would do as well. Do come and see me again, at some time in the future I might even have a story about Poland!

  10. A pleasant day here Kate, blue skies with the odd threat of some rain which passed over. Are you home from the coast?
