Happy New Year

Although I have done this on a new computer, the journey has only just begun. I am encountering lots of difficulties and problems, but hopefully in time I will get myself back on track.

    1. The computer needs more memory than it comes with new so I have to go to my nearest Apple Store. Hopefully after they have added the memory they can also help me find my way around it. Thanks for your best wishes David.

    1. Dear Gina - it may appear like that but I have by no means figured it out. I did this post in a very unconvential way which I did not like. My normal route seems to have disappeared!!!

  4. Dear friends, we send NEW YEAR greetings across the pond to you both.
Know you will soon get the hang of your new computer - you have always been so helpful to others when they've had problems, me included.
Thinking of you and sending love.
Will look forward to seeing you here often in 2020.

  5. Happy New Year, Rosemary!! I got this new laptop in October and there's always a few teething problems until you get to know your way around it. I think I have Windows 10, but who knows LOL!!! No, it is Windows 10, but it was quite different to my last one. Have a great evening whatever you're doing, Love, Jane xx

    1. Dear Jane - I am using an Apple computer but so much of how I did things before has disappeared or changed. Hopefully the nearest Apple Store people will help, as unfortunately my son has had to return back to his home.

    1. Thanks Debra - I did it via a rather strange route, and I am not even sure how I achieved it now. You have more confidence than I have in myself. A great 2020 to you and your partner.

  7. Hello Rosemary, Happy New Year. Also, congratulations and good luck with the new computer. I was just shopping for mine today, and have the decision down to a few models. A big decision is whether to get fancy and up-to-date, or try to save a little money. I bought a new backup up unit so I can make my final backup before the big event.

    1. Hello Jim - I have only ever worked with an Apple computer and I like them - I think that they are rather pricey though. My old backup has done a great job and busily updated everything for me and deleted all of the old. Good luck with your decision, and I wish you a really happy 2020.

  8. Dearest Rosemary,
Don't feel discouraged about your new Apple and rest assured that their great service and help by their 'genius' as they are called here in the U.S. will get you on your way.
May 2020 be a year for good health and lots of writing/photographing and reading joy!

    1. Dear Mariette - thank you very much. You don't know how good it was to hear what you have say and very encouraging too. I am going down to the Apple Genius Bar on Thursday, yes, they call them that here too. The new computers only have 8 GBs memory and I need much nore than that, so I think that will cost me quite a lot more money.
Hope you and Pieter enjoy a happy and healthy 2020.

    2. Happy for you and you're blessed having your son on hand as I only had my youngest brother across the Ocean for coaching me a little bit... He told me some wise words. With Apple it is always simpler than our mind thinks it is... SO TRUE! You will appreciate Apple's Genius Bar! Cheers to a happy 2020 with your new brain extension (that's what it is...)🍸🖥💝🕊

    3. Thank you Mariette - my son used to help me when he lived in Norway and then France when we would share screens from time to time.

  9. Best wishes for a New Year filled with computer joys rather than woes! New technology, be it an updated phone, television, or computer, is never enjoyable for me to deal with. Time and patience (and expert advice) are what it takes. Happy 2020!

    1. Thank you Lorrie - the young ones have no problems whatsoever with all of the technology, but I only understand the 'front' of the computer and not my way around the back. I have to try and sort the computer and our TV which was also new this year, as my husband has absolutely no interest in them. It's a great help to me when one of my sons is here, but he has now returned home. If I am desperate I know he will come back and help ne.

  16. Happy New Year, Rosemary. My new computer is sitting here in its box, and I am dreading getting onto it, and Windows 10. I hear so many people have difficulties, and I don't want to lose my blog either! Fingers crossed :)

    1. Dear Patricia - I feel for you. I have an Apple so know nothing about Windows at all. I have too many photos for the memory on this new computer so I have to take it to the Apple Genius Bar to have more memory incorporated tomorrow, and hopefully they will also give me some tuition help. I am crossing my fingers too - good luck and a happy new 2020.

  22. Happy New Year Rosemary. Thank you for sticking with me. Life has gotten in the way of my blogging. Learning a new computer you say...Oh my it seems we have to keep learning new things to keep up with all of this rapidly changing technology . You have my sympathies.

    1. Happy New Year Janey - it is so difficult to keep up with changing technology I agree - there was a time when you just pressed a button on the TV and that was it. Now there are so many different channels and ways of watching that it takes too much time to explore them all. I am suffering at the moment with this new computer as parts of it appear to have frozen - I think it is because I have so many images. I am off for a second visit next weekend to see the Apple experts once again. Nodoubt it will resolve itself in time, but in the meantime it is confusing me.
